Lily the bunny
My first time using a pattern from Erinna Lee’s book, Amigurumi Treasures.
Erinna Lee is such a talented amigurumi designer. If you don’t know her already, please go and check out her Instagram feed here to give you an idea of her amazing creations.
I had this pattern book before on my Insta feed and had been tempted to buy it on so many occasions but put it off due to my overgrown amigurumi pattern book collection that I hadn’t fully used yet. But we know having too many crochet pattern books isn’t a thing, right?
Anyway, a little while ago I was asked to make an amigurumi duck for a client. I found a duck amigurumi pattern I adored on Etsy, lo and behold it happened to be by Erinna Lee. I had no idea it was the same Erinna Lee that wrote Amigurumi Treasures, but after a little research I discovered it was. After making this adorable little creature, known as Louis the duck and his teddy, and it being such a wonderful pattern to follow, I hit the buy button on Amazon and purchased Amigurumi Treasures. I have to admit a fellow crocheter on Instagram also had some influence over my buying decision after a conversation about pattern books. She wasn’t wrong, this book is AMAZING!
It seemed quite fitting, that when the same client came back to ask me to make three more amigurumi for her (a pug, a puppy, and a rabbit), I got to finally use the Amigurumi Treasures pattern book that had been sitting in my bookshelf for a couple of months. This is how Lily came about!
Meet Lily the bunny
Lily is a gorgeous girl who dreams of becoming an eco-friendly fashion designer when she grows up. What does that mean? She’s still working that out, but is regularly exploring what it means to create sustainable fashion. The dress she is wearing happens to be her favourite item of clothing, made from organic cotton.
Lily is also on a fully plant-based diet, by choice, and true to bunny form her favourite food is a good ol’ succulent lettuce leaf. While caring for the environment, this girl is also the most considerate little bunny you will meet. She loves cuddles, and lifting people’s spirits up when they’re feeling low. Lily is a bunny you can always count on.

I think Lily has to be one of my favourite amigurumi creations so far. She was really fun to make, and I learned quite a lot too, which I think always makes a pattern that little bit more exciting. What you need:

Yarn: I used Rico Creative Cotton Aran in White (#80), Nature (#60), and Smokey Berry (#12), which I purchased from my local Edinburgh-based yarn store, Be Inspired Fibres. If you’re not in Edinburgh, I’ve also linked each colour to the product on Amazon.
Hook: I used a 3mm hook like this one here.

Tips & Tricks
Mattress Stitch
One helpful video tutorial I used when making Lily was this one below from Alexis Winslow on how to sew a mattress stitch. You will need this for when you sew Lily’s skirt together, if like me, you haven’t used a mattress stitch before. Erinna Lee however does include video tutorials that come with the Amigurumi Treasures book! So be sure to check these out as well.
Final Thoughts
I don’t often say that I’m proud of myself, but I am super proud of myself for making Lily. I think she is so adorable, and I honestly can’t wait to make another amigurumi from Erinna’s pattern book. The pattern is extremely well-written and easy to follow. I couldn’t recommend it more!
