Love Heart Free Crochet Pattern

This free crochet pattern makes a small love heart ideal for Valentine’s Day celebrations or for your favourite amigurumi to hold.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy love heart crochet pattern, here’s a super simple one I created to accompany one of my amigurumi crochet patterns last year.

While I originally designed this little crocheted love heart as a handbag accessory for Pip the Penguin, I thought it would be great to shout about the fact that it can be used as a standalone pattern too! You could use this little crocheted love heart for bunting, a gift for a love one this Valentine's Day, or a wee accessory for another amigurumi. The choice is yours!

So here it is - a simple, quick, and free crochet pattern for a crocheted love heart. Just in time for Valentine’s Day - I hope you enjoy it!

If you decide to crochet this heart, I’d love to see your makes! Simply post a picture on social media with the hashtag #cillacrochets & tag me @cillacrochets so I can share your makes with the community. I can’t wait to see what you create!

Love Heart Crochet Pattern

Follow these instructions to crochet your little love heart.

Use DK cotton yarn in any colour and a 2.5mm hook.

Firmly stuff throughout as you crochet.

R1: mc with 6 sc (6)

R2: [inc] x 6 (12)

R3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)

R4 - 5: sc around (18) - 2 rounds

Cut yarn leaving a longer yarn tail for sewing and fasten off.

Repeat R1 - R5 again so there is a second semi-circle piece. For the second piece, do not cut yarn or fasten off.

Using the yarn tail from your first semi-circle, sew the two pieces together in the middle with 6 sc on either side of each piece. See the image below.

Sew two semi-circles together to form the top of the crocheted heart.

R6: sc in each st around skipping the sts that were sewn together (24) - see image below

Skipping sts that were sewn together, crochet around the edges of the semi-circles, ignoring the stitches in the middle (where they were joined).

R7: sc around (24)

R8: [2 sc, dec] x 6 (18)

R9: sc around (18)

Stuff firmly.

R10: [sc, dec] x 6 (12)

R11: [dec] x 6 (6)

Cut yarn leaving a short tail for sewing and fasten off. Weave tail through FLO of last 6 sc and pull tight to close the gap. See image below.
