Are you learning crochet? Give the March 2022 edition of the crochet quiz a go to test your knowledge about our amazing craft and maybe even learn something new.
I was a little late to the game when it came to posting the March crochet quiz to my Instagram stories last month. As it goes, this post is also being published a little later than I had planned too. I’m sorry! Time really ran away with me last month.
If you’re new here - a huge Hello and Welcome! The crochet quiz is a quick 10-question round of multiple choice trivia that I publish live on my Instagram stories once a month for fellow crocheters around the world. Anyone can take part, and it’s meant to be just for fun.
Occasionally, I also run a giveaway alongside the quiz on Instagram where crocheters can pick up some neat prizes just by taking part in the quiz. Last month it was crochet stitch markers. The time before that it was two free digital crochet patterns (one by me, and one by another crochet designer - Nicole Chase, you should check her out too 😉).
While not everyone is on Instagram, and not everyone is on Instagram in the 24-hour period of when the quiz is available in my stories, I also publish the quiz afterwards on my blog so anyone and everyone can give the quiz a go in their own time.

Q1. What type of knot would most likely create before you crochet a chain?
(B) Slip knot - This was meant to be an easy one. I hope you thought it was! A slip knot is the type of knot you make before crocheting a chain.
Q2. What type of clasp is used for these stitch markers pictured below?
(A) Lobster clasp - These are my current favourite type of crochet stitch markers to use (and I made them myself). You can get quite a few different types of stitch markers on the market, but I’ve always gravitated towards the lobster claws. I think this is mainly because I find opening and closing them a lot easier than other types of stitch markers, which helps me be that tiny bit faster when I crochet.

(A) Single crochet - That’s right, in crochet charts a plus or x symbol is used to symbolise a single crochet stitch in US terms.

(C) Crochet at work - This was a tricky one for me! This looks like such a cute crochet pattern book and I only became aware of it after reading the lastest issue of Inside Crochet (a UK crochet magazine). If you have it, let me know what you think in the comments. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Q7. When changing colour in crochet when should you add the new yarn?
(A) Last YO of st before new colour - this helps ensure your colour changes are clean and there are no stitches with two colours of yarn. You can read more about this technique in my amigurumi tips blog post here.

(C) Yarn under vs Yarn over - To crochet a standard ‘V’ single crochet stitch you always yarn over, however to crochet a single crochet that looks like an ‘X’ instead you yarn under.

(A) Bent tip tapestry needle - this nifty little tool really helps sew your amigurumi parts together a lot easier than a regular tapestry needle. Also, did you know that the difference between a sewing needle and a tapestry needle is simply that the end of a tapestry needle is blunt? Whereas sewing needles are always quite sharp.
